Tonight, Donatella Versace honored her late brother, Gianni, on the 20th anniversary of his death, with a Spring 2018 collection inspired by his most iconic looks. In recognizing that it wasn’t just about the collections, and their spectacular animal prints, square-shouldered jackets or quirky accessories, but also the supermodel careers his designs helped catapult, she recruited some old friends from the ‘90s, the Italian fashion house’s definitive decade, to close the show with a bang.
And bang they did. Decked out in gold lamé, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Carla Bruni, and Helena Christensen stepped out on the catwalk in stride with their hands linked and their heads held high. And while their line-free complexions, bombshell manes, and head-to-toe glows were awe-inspiring, it was their endless limbs that truly stole the moment.
The sculpted leggy look, particularly for Campbell, Christensen, and Crawford—whose 16-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber also walked the runway—were on full display thanks to the abbreviated thigh-high slits of their shimmering gowns. With their robust physiques, elongated and elegant steps and unwavering confidence, these icons prove that 40s-plus beauty rules are, at long last, a thing of the past.
